For the person making the training decisions

You finish the session. Your brain keeps working.

Perhaps you recognise this evening. The client has gone home, you have opened the session video again, and the same thirty seconds are still bothering you. The plan made sense on paper. Now you are wondering what you missed, what needs changing, and how to explain the next step without sending your client a small dissertation.

So you open a paper, search your course notes, or ask a group. There are several plausible suggestions. What you still need is someone to look closely at this work, understand the question, and stay with the conversation when you return with what happened next. Twelve open browser tabs are not quite a mentoring team.

Working with people all day can still leave you professionally on your own. You are the person expected to have a plan, even when the evidence is incomplete. You may want a place to say that you are unsure, ask a question you think you should already know the answer to, or share a piece of work before it is polished enough to show publicly.

That is what this mentoring is for. Bring the unfinished plan, the confusing session, or the client instructions you have rewritten three times. I will examine the work with you, give constructive feedback, and explain the reasoning behind it. You do not need to perform certainty here. We are working towards decisions you can explain and review—not dependence on my permission to make them.

Where support can make a practical difference

Which part of the work are you carrying alone?

You keep second-guessing the plan.

You can see several possible explanations, but choosing what to do next is harder. Bring your observations, plan and relevant footage or notes. We separate what happened from what you think it means, identify missing information and examine what would justify keeping, revising or stopping the plan.

Your client needs something they can actually use.

You understand the training goal; turning it into manageable practice for another person is a different job. Bring the instructions you intend to send. We look at what the person is being asked to do, what progress would look like, and where the plan leaves too much to interpretation—without treating the client as the problem.

You are learning more, but not always getting clearer.

A paper, a seminar and a confident social-media post can leave you with three different answers. The two monthly research-paper discussions give us time to examine what was studied, what the findings support and where their relevance to your work remains uncertain. The aim is useful judgment, not a longer reading list to feel behind on.

You want feedback without having to look impressive.

It can be difficult to show the session that did not go to plan when you are usually the person helping everyone else. Your mentoring correspondence is private. Bring the question at the stage it is actually at, receive kind, specific feedback, and return with the next attempt. You do not have to turn the work into a presentation first.

More than a second opinion on one clip

Work through the question, then come back with what happened.

A useful month might begin with a client plan you are unsure about. You bring the draft and the observations behind it; we examine the reasoning and make the next decision clearer. You then bring back the client’s report or your next observation, so we can review the revision rather than assuming it helped. That continuity is the reason to choose mentoring: your work can develop across the month, with a written record you can revisit afterwards.

We choose one main professional learning goal and work through up to two active cases or projects within the review allowance. The goal might concern your case analysis, teaching plans or client instructions. You can bring a second question without turning the month into an unlimited review of your whole caseload.

  • A focused learning plan: the decisions you want to improve and the evidence we will use to examine them.
  • Annotated written feedback: what is clear, what needs more information, the reasoning behind a suggested revision and the next question to test.
  • A private decision record: your observations, choices, revisions and what happened afterwards.
  • A month-end direction: what you can take forward independently, what remains uncertain and where further learning or referral makes sense.

How this differs from a Premium course: Premium combines a defined curriculum with feedback on practical work in that subject. Mentoring follows your professional questions across suitable cases, plans and client work. If you mainly want to learn shaping with individual feedback, Shape Me Up! Premium may be the better fit. You do not need to buy both for the same piece of work.

Who this is for

Trainers who want closer examination of their work.

This is for working trainers, trainers preparing to work with clients, and trainers working in sport or another professional setting who already have basic reinforcement-based training foundations. You can be new to Tromplo. Previous course ownership and a large social-media following are not entry requirements.

You should be ready to explain your reasoning, share relevant observations and revisit a plan when the evidence changes. Learner welfare, agency and usable opportunities to pause or leave remain part of the discussion—not decorations added after the technique has been chosen.

Mentoring is professional education, not emergency case management, veterinary advice or a substitute for appropriate in-person assessment. You remain responsible for your client relationships and work within your own competence. If you are unsure whether a topic is suitable, you are welcome to ask before buying; an application is not required.

From registration to your first review

Buy your place. Then bring your question.

  1. Buy October mentoring directly. Complete your purchase through Tromplo. Your paid order confirms your place; there is no application or approval stage.
  2. Send a short introduction. Email [email protected] with your order number, the WhatsApp number you would like to use (including country code), one professional learning goal, your time zone and availability for the two calls. I will use this to arrange our private WhatsApp chat. If WhatsApp is not possible, tell me and we will agree an alternative. A few sentences are enough; please leave private client records and video out of this first message.
  3. Begin with your own work. In the first week we agree a focused learning goal and the call times, set up our private WhatsApp chat or agreed alternative and hold the first call. Written review rounds begin on 6 October.

Registration is for 1–31 October 2026 and closes on 30 September, or when the 8 places are filled. October is a one-month purchase, not an automatically renewing subscription.

A few useful questions

Will I get a new curriculum or access to every Tromplo course?

The work is driven by your professional learning goal, not a weekly lecture sequence. Catalogue access is separate. We may identify useful further study, but there is no hidden requirement to buy another course to participate.

Do I need video for every review?

Written plans, case notes, data and client-instruction drafts can be reviewed without video. When footage is relevant, share enough context to make it useful and stay within the weekly allowance. We will not ask you to recreate unsafe situations or cut out important context simply to fit a clip limit.

How is client information handled?

Use anonymized notes wherever possible. Share identifiable third-party material only with the necessary permission and after agreeing the sharing method. Feedback is individual and is not posted to a group. Calls are not recorded by default, and participation does not give permission to use your work in marketing.

Does this award a professional credential?

This is mentoring and continuing professional learning. It does not award a professional credential or the separate Tromplo certificate of demonstrated competence, and it does not guarantee an assessment result.

What if I cannot attend a call or need to cancel?

Tell me as soon as possible so we can discuss another time within October. Call times are arranged individually after purchase; if your availability is particularly limited, email before buying so we can check possible times. For cancellations, please contact [email protected] and consult the Tromplo terms and conditions. There is no automatic renewal.

Bring the question you keep coming back to.

If one case, one plan or one recurring difficulty is taking up more thinking space than you want it to, it can become the focus of our month. You do not need a dramatic problem or a perfectly prepared submission. You need something you want to examine—and a willingness to look at it together.

Reserve your private October place with Agnieszka Janarek: eight written review rounds, two individual calls, two research-paper discussions and a focused record of what you examined, changed and learned.
