Strengthen acquired behavior without losing track of which variable changed.

Once a response exists, the work becomes more connected—not less. Accuracy, latency, pace, duration, distance, repetitions, reinforcement schedules, cue packages, generalization, chains, prompts, and fading can all affect performance. When several change together, the later error is easy to see and the first useful divergence is easy to miss.

Trainer’s Toolbox Part 2 gives you one system for defining terminal performance, raising criteria, testing cue control, arranging complete training loops, building chains, removing prompts, developing bounded function hypotheses, and changing one relevant variable when performance shifts.

Trainer's Toolbox Part 2 pathway from terminal performance through cue control, chains, fading, and troubleshooting
Define the performance, protect interpretability, and let the first divergence—not the largest later error—guide revision.

What you will build

You will create one performance-and-troubleshooting system for an acquired behavior. It connects the terminal definition, data-light measures, progress and rollback rules, reinforcement schedule, fluency plan, cue package, generalization matrix, loop or chain map, prompt inventory, fade plan, function evidence, and one-variable test.

The course repeatedly compares cases that look similar at the end. A response breaks after a delay in both, but only one isolates time. A learner misses a cue in both, but one arrangement contains an accidental visual prompt. Two chains fail at the same point, but the weak link begins earlier in one. The point is to see which distinction changes the next decision.

The five-part route

  1. Define robust performance: separate accuracy, latency, pace, response effort, duration, distance, and repetitions.
  2. Raise criteria deliberately: use schedules, fluency, progress, hold, rollback, and stop rules without increasing every dimension together.
  3. Clarify stimulus control: inspect the whole cue package, accidental cues, on-cue and wait-for-cue tests, generalization, discrimination, and poisoned-cue questions.
  4. Build loops and chains: map the session, arrange clean or deliberately varied loops, locate weak links, inventory prompts, and plan fading.
  5. Troubleshoot from evidence: distinguish error from explanation, compare evidence for and against a function hypothesis, locate the first divergence, and test one low-risk variable.

What is inside

You receive thirty teaching lessons, a materials hub, worked cases, practical records, model reasoning, two private self-checks, worked explanations, clear revision routes, and a final integrated case that uses the whole system. You can apply the tools to a safe personal project or work through the supplied cases.
